The House of St Barnabas will join forces with Paul Bradshaw, former editor and publisher of Straight No Chaser magazine, to present the first event in their Summer Jazz Series, Journey To The One.
Fresh from curating ‘Enlightenment’, a sold-out re-imagining of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme at this year’s Meltdown festival, Bradshaw will present Manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger and bandleader Matthew Halsall.
Halsall will perform music with his latest project, The Gondwana Orchestra, and from his forthcoming album, When The World Was One (due for release this June). His sound draws heavily on the legacy of Alice Coltrane, featuring deep, soulful, modal jazz and influenced by Halsall’s love of eastern music and spiritual jazz.
