The man behind the music

“I believe that music is the most universal and affective language we have, and it’s an honor to be part of an organisation that understands the power of music in creating community and communicating the bigger message.” – Sav Remzi – Music Director at The House of St Barnabas

To say we are lucky to work with Sav Remzi is an understatement. He arrives at The House Of St Barnabas as a leading light in independent music… With impeccable heritage sourcing back to 1988 he has amounted a vast array of  experience and respect in the music industry. His imprints have included Nuphonic one of history’s most iconic labels, Shoreditch’s legendary Blue Note club, XFM’s London Xpress shows, the Lovebox festival and his current baby, the disco imprint Tirk Records. He has released over 250 record titles in his career,  championed a good few hit acts (including Florence and The Machine and New Young Pony Club), and created events that have challenged perceptions. A ‘Soulboy’ at heart, Sav has worked with the finest in the business from Femi Kuti to Afrika Bambaataa, through to Bjork and The Chemical Brothers… so he’s not short of an amazing world of influences to share with us all.

Sav makes good things happen in music in a unique style that has become his hallmark. He brings his heritage to The House of St Barnabas to create a soundscape and live programme that explores the full possibilities of music and all its related cultures.

“The attributes I cherish in life; quality, values, integrity, sensitivity and respect are all here within The House of St Barnabas. I am proud to be a part of what I consider to be one of the most dynamic, far reaching and innovative projects in the UK today. Now that I have such a beautiful backdrop and a worth-while cause to work with, I aim to create a bespoke musical landscape with live events that capture the imagination and wow the audience in fresh and exciting ways.”
