We are governed by a Board of Trustees. Our trustees are responsible for control and to guarantee that:
- The charity is efficient, effective and achieving the best possible impact
- The charity’s assets are safeguarded
- Proper records are kept and public information is reliable
- The charity complies with relevant laws and regulations
A wholly owned trading subsidiary of the charity (Events Ltd) operates our social enterprise members’ club.
The Charity is custodian of the House of St Barnabas, which is entrusted to us by the Monro family. The Reverend Dr Adam Scott OBE TD CEng, FIET is in the fifth generation of Dr Henry Monro’s family, and sits on our advisory board. David Monro is also descended from Dr Henry Monro and sits on our advisory board.

Jenny Watson – Chair, since 2018
Jenny has been Chair of the House since 2018. As well as her role at the House she is currently Chair of GAMSTOP, a trustee at the Norfolk Community Foundation, and a non-executive director at both the Reclaim Fund and the Enforcement Conduct Board.
Rich Taunt – Trustee and Deputy Chair, since 2021
As well as acting as Trustee and Deputy Chair, Rich is Chair of Events Ltd, our trading subsidiary. Rich is part of Kaleidoscope Health and Care, a social enterprise working with others to build a future which is kind, connected and joyful. Rich is the Lead-non executive and Chair of the Board at Here, a Sussex-based social enterprise provider of health services with a mission to increase the possibility of care in every moment.
Rachel Roxburgh – Trustee, since 2017
As a Strategic Consultant advising charities and companies, Rachel has always worked in the third sector, primarily with Cancer Research UK, building and heading up their phenomenally successful 5km women’s event: Race for Life. She then moved into more strategic roles to grow and develop new income streams. She was appointed as the inaugural CEO of Lawrence Dallaglio’s charity Dallaglio RugbyWorks, strategically shifting it from grant giving to having their own service provision with a national employability skills programme working with disengaged young people. Passionate about social mobility she works with business to help implement and active their D&I agendas.
Karen Everett – Trustee, since 2018
Karen is currently the CEO for the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts, a collection of 20 independent grant-making trusts and charitable companies established by members of three generations of the Sainsbury family. Karen is also the Chair of Governors for Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, one of the largest sixth-form colleges in the country, and a founder Trustee/Director for Dynamic Youth Theatre. Karen brings to the Board extensive audit, risk, financial management and governance experience from a wide variety of both commercial and not-for-profit environments, and a passionate belief in the importance of social enterprises in successfully tackling some of the most challenging issues of our time.
James Townsend – Trustee, since 2018
James Townsend is an entrepreneur who focuses on using technology to unlock people’s potential in new ways. He is a Founder in Zinc’s Mission 2. James brings over a decade of experience in education, leadership development and charity leadership. James was elected to the General Synod of the Church of England in 2010, and from 2013 to 2018 set up and led the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership.
Stephen Burns – Trustee, since 2019
Stephen is the Executive Director for Care, Inclusion and Communities at Peabody. He joined Peabody in 1998 and is responsible for its care services, supported housing and charitable foundation. He is also the lead director for equity and inclusion. Prior to joining Peabody, Stephen worked in skills training and employment and was a director of a national training company from 1993 to 1997. He is the chair of London charities Toynbee Hall and United St Saviours and is the vice-chair of Trust for London.
Kate Swade – Trustee, since 2021
Kate is an independent social sector governance and strategy consultant, a facilitator and a coach. She is particularly interested in how good governance can support organisations working in complex systems. She has over 15 years’ experience working in and alongside social enterprises using buildings and land creatively to help increase social impact.
Robi Sol Elsawey – Trustee, since 2021
Robi is the former COO at Movement to Work – the UK’s largest business-led not-for-profit coalition of the UK’s progressive employers. Movement to Work aims to level the playing field for disadvantaged young people by providing quality work experience opportunities leading to employment. Robi was also previously a strategy consultant focused on all things supply chain, cost reduction and process optimisation. Her focus is on understanding people, their intentions and building connections.
Tyler Williams-Green – Trustee, since 2022
Tyler founded The Outrunners as a Hackney-based running club in 2015 after falling in love with running whilst becoming a qualified coach. With over 17 years of experience in the charity sector and as a youth practitioner, Tyler knew he wanted the club to have a social purpose and a sense of community to connect with local people in the area. After recognising the unequal access to opportunities, Tyler has pivoted the direction of the club to support young people in Hackney. In 2020, The Outrunners became a registered charity. Tyler, and the charity’s, work has featured in GQ Magazine, Runners World and the national press. Alongside The Outrunners, Tyler mentors founders of new community groups to help increase diversity in organisations and offers brand consultancy to companies including Nike and ON running.
Charlotte Harrington – Non-Exec Director, since 2021
Charlotte is Co-CEO of leading drinks company Belu Water, striving to change the way the world sees water. She joined in 2015 as COO, fulfilling her ambition to lead a business with purpose. Prior to this she had a successful career in retail, latterly as Category Director at Tesco. As a mother of three children, Charlotte is passionate about being a working parent and chooses to work flexibly to balance her priorities and commitments.
